Kimberly Bringas of Rica Salsa is organizing the first ever salsa flash mob at the San Jose Jazz Festival this weekend! If you don’t know what a flash mob is, it’s basically when a huge number of people get together for a brief moment to do something unusual, before dispersing again. In this case, they will be doing a short salsa/hip hop routine! If that sounds like fun, you can sign up to be a part of the mob at the salsa flash mob website. Be a part of salsa history, and have fun doing it!

The 21st annual San Jose Jazz Festival is this weekend, and this is one salsa event you won’t want to miss! The Jazz Festival takes place in downtown San Jose, and features nearly a dozen stages with live music, including one stage dedicated just to salsa music! Get ready to tear up the streets of San Jose to the beat of live salsa music! The event takes place all weekend, from August 13-15.

There are two free, live salsa performances coming up this week in San Jose!

The first event is San Jose’s annual Music in the Park celebration, with a concert this Thursday at the Paseo de San Carlos in downtown San Jose. This week’s performer will be Pete Escovedo and his Latin Orchestra, who have been playing at Music in the Park now for over 16 years. This is a great event to go to to have a beer, enjoy the music, and do some outdoor salsa dancing.

Also coming up this week is the Target Summer Pops Concert, on Friday on the San Jose State University campus. This free concert starts at 7pm, and will feature the renowned salsa band, the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, who will be playing some of their best songs, so drop by SJSU to enjoy some great music and great dancing!
